Never use dish soap to wash your car. It might look clean afterward, but the problem is that the dish soap will strip away the wax or sealant designed to protect the vehicle. Dishwashing soaps are not Ph balanced and will actually dull the vehicle’s finish, and that is definitely what we don’t want to have happened! It’s also too abrasive. Car wash soap that anyone can buy at the local retail store has soaps designed to wash your car. It’s relatively inexpensive and is definitely worth the cost. It doesn’t directly damage the paint, but it will take the protection away. Another general rule of thumb is to use cold water to wash with because hot water will also help strips away the waxes and protection for your vehicle, which is exactly what we don’t want to do. It’s always best to have a ceramic coating applied to your car, that way no matter what you use on your paint to wash your car, it’ll stay permanently protected, even against dish soap.
